Black Cottonwood Aromatic Resin Perfume Oil captures the rich honeyed aroma of spring cottonwood buds just beginning to open. Black cottonwood buds that we forage each spring are slowly infused into organic jojoba oil and paired with house-made cottonwood aromatic extracts.

Black cottonwood (Populus trichocarpa), also known as balsam poplar, grows along the rivers and floodplains of the Pacific Northwest. In early spring its sticky buds release a fragrant resin that fills the cool riparian air with a scent of warm honey, balsam, and forest spice.

The deep aromas of natural resins have long been used to create moments of calm and reflection. Many people find these oils helpful for slowing down, reconnecting with the senses, and feeling more grounded in the natural world.

Whole Resin Perfumery

Our Aromatic Resin Perfume Oils are composed entirely from natural plant materials including aromatic tree resins, essential oils, and botanical absolutes.

Some of the resins are foraged by us directly, while others are sourced from growers and harvesters who work closely with these plants in their native regions. We seek out exceptional resins and aromatic materials wherever they are produced.

The resins are slowly infused into organic jojoba oil using gentle heat and time. This process captures the deeper aromatic profile of the whole resin rather than isolating only the essential oil, creating a rich true-to-resin aromatic fragrance.

Many of the essential oils used in this collection are distilled in small batches in our own studio, allowing us to work closely with the plants and shape the aromatic character of each fragrance.

Each perfume oil is blended and poured in small batches at our studio on Vashon Island.

How to Use
