What it is

Sacred Copal Hydrosol is an aromatic water distilled from wildcrafted Protium copal resin. It bridges skincare and ceremony, serving as a gentle facial toner, a body and hair refresher, and a smoke free way to sanctify space.

How to use

Sourcing and craft

Copal comes from the Nahuatl word "copalli", meaning incense, and has been used for millennia in Mesoamerican traditions to honor ancestors, clear space, and invite presence.

In Mesoamerica, copal typically refers to resins from the Burseraceae family, most commonly Protium and Bursera. Our hydrosol is distilled from wildcrafted Protium copal sourced in Mexico.

The word copal is also used for Southeast Asian resins such as dammar and Agathis. These belong to a different botanical family and have distinct chemistry and aroma. Beautiful in their own right, but not the same species as Protium or Bursera copals. We label by botanical source so you always know what you are getting.

Every batch is distilled slowly in our Pacific Northwest studio using whole resin, traditional methods, and small scale alchemical craft.
