Slowly infused flowers and botanicals

Glow’s locally grown organic rose and chamomile flowers, wild-foraged yarrow flowers, fireweed, elderflowers and Douglas fir tips steep directly in the moisturizing oils for several weeks.

Guided by herbal practice, ethnobotany and modern research, we select the blend for the plants’ properties, suitability for oil extraction and natural aroma. Slow infusion draws their oil-soluble constituents and aromatic compounds into the oils before filtering.

With 0.5% purified bakuchiol

Bakuchiol is a naturally occurring compound found in Psoralea corylifolia (bakuchi), a plant with a long history of use in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine.

Purified bakuchiol has been studied for improvements in the appearance of wrinkles and uneven pigmentation. In a comparative clinical trial, participants using a bakuchiol cream reported less scaling and stinging than those using a retinol cream.

This research informs our inclusion of 0.5% purified bakuchiol alongside Glow’s moisturizing oils and whole-plant infusion.

Bakuchiol and retinol—the research

In a randomized, double-blind, 12-week study of 44 participants, a cream containing 0.5% bakuchiol used twice daily and a cream containing 0.5% retinol used once daily both reduced measured wrinkle surface area and hyperpigmentation. Participants using retinol reported more scaling and stinging.

The study is one reason purified bakuchiol has attracted interest as a botanical alternative to retinol in cosmetic skincare.

How to use

After cleansing, mist your face and neck with a hydrosol or leave your skin slightly damp with water.

Apply the serum to damp skin, gently pressing it into your face and neck. Adjust the amount to your skin’s needs and preferred feel.

Use morning or evening. If using sunscreen, apply it after the serum.

Pair with a hydrosol: Hydrosols hydrate the skin, while the serum softens it and helps retain moisture. Apply the serum while your skin is still damp.

Every ingredient has a purpose

Five organic plant oils form Glow’s moisturizing foundation. Together, they condition the skin and help retain moisture, with the lighter feel that distinguishes Glow.

Organic rosehip oil

Rosehip contributes essential fatty acids, including linoleic and alpha-linolenic acids. We choose it to condition dry, rough-feeling skin and help leave it softer and smoother.

Organic pumpkin seed oil

Pumpkin seed oil brings conditioning richness and fatty acids, including linoleic acid. Alongside rosehip, it forms the foundation of Glow’s blend for softening dry, rough-feeling skin.

Organic argan oil

Argan contributes conditioning fatty acids and helps skin retain moisture, bringing richness and comfort to the blend.

Organic jojoba oil

Jojoba is a liquid plant wax with a composition distinct from most botanical oils. It conditions the skin and helps maintain a soft, supple feel.

Organic grape seed oil

Grape seed oil contributes linoleic acid and lightweight conditioning. It helps balance the richer oils so Glow leaves skin feeling soft without a heavy feel.

Rose and chamomile flowers, yarrow flowers, fireweed, elderflowers and Douglas fir tips

Whole botanicals selected as a blend for everyday skincare and extracted directly into the moisturizing oils.

Purified bakuchiol

All flowers and botanicals used in the infusion are grown or gathered in Washington.

Sourcing & making

We forage the wild botanicals ourselves and source the organically grown flowers locally.

Infusion, filtering, blending and bottling take place in small batches at our Vashon Island studio. Purified bakuchiol and Vitamin E are blended into the filtered oil before bottling.

Glow is a water-free facial oil with no added fragrance, essential oils, colorants or preservatives.

Care & storage

Keep water out of the bottle. Close securely after use and store away from heat and direct sunlight. Refer to the best-before date on your bottle.
